My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:2

Carter Memorial UMC offers a variety of opportunities to engage your faith throughout the Lenten season.

“Lent at Home” resource kits were mailed to all families currently worshipping with Carter. These resources allow people of all ages to explore spiritual practices and hear personal stories that help bring Scripture to life. To request a kit, please contact the church office.

In addition to regular Sunday morning classes and worship services, there are a number of other opportunities to experience God and prepare your hearts and lives for the Resurrection.

Wednesday Prayer Services

Come and find a quiet center with a short, weekly “Prayer Service.” Videos will be posted to the Carter webpage and social media each Wednesday throughout Lent, beginning with an Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, February 17. Make a ritual of tuning in each Wednesday, or watch a time that is convenient for you.

Coffee with Clergy: Lenten Edition

Thursdays at 10:00am

Though in many ways it feels as if we have been in a yearlong season of Lent, in this new year, faced with new and ongoing challenges, we need this season. Join your clergy staff Thursday mornings via ZOOM for a time of reflection, Scripture, and discussion as we explore what it means to claim God’s promise of salvation. We will be guided by the General Board of Discipleship’s “Rend Your Hearts: Claiming the Promise” Lenten series. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Small Groups

After a wonderfully successful experiment last fall, we are excited to bring our small groups back together for a new Lenten journey. Small groups will again serve as a place of both fellowship and faith formation as we experience Christ together again. Leaders will use materials created by Revs. Murphy and Shaw to shepherd groups through Scripture and reflection questions as well as to check in with one another in the classically Methodist way that John Wesley advocated. Lenten small groups will begin the week of February 21. For those who are in need of a new small group assignment, please reach out to or
