Reverend Gary L. Shaw
Gary came to the Carter community in July of 2010. He began his ministry in 1978 and has served in a variety of appointments within the New England Conference. Gary is also a certified spiritual director and contextual education supervisor with Boston University School of Theology. Gary is married to Melanie (Zervas) Shaw of Ipswich, MA and they have two grown children and one grandchild. You can reach Gary at email@example.com.
Rev. Ashley Murphy
Director of Faith Formation
Ashley, who is a commissioned deacon in the New England Annual Conference, serves as Carter’s Director of Faith Formation. She is a 2011 graduate of Boston University School of Theology and has been leading Christian education for nearly two decades. Ashley came to Carter in the summer of 2013 as the Director of Christian Education. As our congregation has grown and changed, Ashley has taken on a new role to help bring exciting faith formation opportunities to all ages, leading our faith formation efforts at both our Needham and Wellesley locations. Ashley resides with her husband Christopher and their two children, Emelia (6) and Jackson (1) in the parsonage of the Carter Spiritual Life Center in Wellesley. Kathie joined the staff at Carter the fall of 2000 and is essential to all ministries here at Carter Memorial United Methodist Church. Kathie is married to Ray and they have 2 children, Sarah Wilder who is an elementary school teacher in Old Orchard Beach, ME and Gregory who is an environmental/ecology specialist in MA. Rev. Corrie Hermans-Webster
Rev. Corrie Hermans-Webster comes to Carter from Texas, where she served in multiple parishes. She has a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Voice and Religious Studies from The University of Oklahoma and Master of Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. While serving at Carter, she earned a Master of Sacred Theology from Boston University School of Theology with a thesis on ableism in Christian hymnody. Her thesis can be read here. Corrie is a commissioned deacon in The United Methodist Church and is passionate about opening the Church to all of God’s children through music. She is married to Thomas, and they live in Boston. Aaron Rosenthal plays piano and organ at Carter Memorial, where he also serves as choir accompanist. He also works as a freelance pianist, composer and arranger around the greater Boston area. One of his most frequently performed works — Voices of Terezin, a setting of children’s poetry from the Holocaust — has been performed on four continents and is published in versions for mixed and women’s chorus. Aaron also writes and plays keyboards for indie pop/rock band Eddie Japan. Aaron is married to Mia Motobuchi and has two daughters, Ella and Serena.
